McGuffey Art Center is located in the historic section of downtown Charlottesville, VA. McGuffey Art Center is an artist association supporting the artistic growth of emerging and professional artists in both visual and performing arts. McGuffey is equally dedicated to providing opportunities for the community to participate in these creative processes through access to open studios, exhibitions and performances, classes, tours and outreach projects. As an artist’s cooperative venue, McGuffey relies on individuals and artists willing to contribute their time and energy for the success of this community arts center.
The Center is open to the public six days a week with no admission charge. If the studio doors are open, please walk in to view artist’s work space and their art. Large groups and schools are invited to call ahead to arrange tours with specific artist talks and/or demonstrations for their groups. McGuffey artists offer a large variety of classes for children, teen and adults. The class selection changes quarterly with private or group sessions.
On the first Friday of each month, the public is also invited to attend the opening of new exhibitions. The openings are 5:30-7:30, which coincides with the city wide First Fridays.
We invite you to visit!
