McGuffey Art Center wins 2010 “Best of Cville” award: Place to look at art.
Sure, McGuffey’s a great place to look at art. But it offers so much more: Stop in to see one of the 45 resident artists doing their thang, visit the gift shop, where you can take home member artists’ original creations, or even take a watercolor class with local master Lee Alter (and that’s just one example)

Some people think of art abstractly: Impressionist paintings, Renaissance masters who died long before their work was appreciated, quiet museums with tourist groups passing through. But then there are those of you who like your art a little more tangible. Lucky for you, there’s McGuffey where on any given day you can get all up in one of its 40 artists’ business. The Center’s member artists, from printmaker Russell Richardsto sculptor Emily Kaufman, don’t mind if you visit their studio. Come on in, observe … but, like in a museum, don’t touch.
