The Red Shed Mural Project is a project of The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative, Charlottesville Mural Project, and McGuffey Art Center, to create a rotating mural space on McGuffey Art Center’s Red Shed. The call for submissions for this mural project asked artists to come up with their best mural designs that facilitate community dialogue and create a vibrant and welcoming environment. The yearly rotating nature of the mural project intends to encourage sharing the wealth within the arts community to provide continual opportunities for artists to be paid for their creative and physical labor, as well as to encourage the sharing of a variety of artist perspectives every year.

August 2021: ‘A Peek into the Past…’ by Laura Lee Gulledge & her Street Art Camp

A Peek into the Past is a collaborative mural developed by Laura Lee Gulledge and five 13-year old students from her Street Art Camp, which took place at McGuffey Art Center from August 9-13, 2021. Under Gulledge’s teachings, the students in the Street Art Camp had the opportunity to learn about creating street art, develop their own designs, and collaborate on creating a mural together within 5 days!
