Joe Sheridan:
A Chair for All Reasons

April 30 - June 2

Opening Reception: Friday, May 3, 5:30 - 8:00 pm

In the words of the Joe Sheridan, “As an artist, I am captivated by the ability of visual language to convey intricate emotions and ideas without the use of words. My current body of work reflects this fascination, as I explore the complexities of this language through the layering of various artistic marks, lines, textures, texts, and repeated imagery.

At the heart of my work lies the use of chairs and other utilitarian objects as symbols. These objects, while seemingly mundane, carry with them a wealth of cultural, societal, and personal significance. Through their repetition, I seek to create a sense of rhythm and pattern, inviting viewers to consider the deeper meanings and associations that these objects hold.

Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to create works that are both visually compelling and intellectually stimulating, inviting viewers to engage with the world in new and unexpected ways. By exploring the intricacies of visual language and the power of objects as symbols, I hope to encourage a deeper understanding of the human experience and the myriad ways in which we communicate our thoughts, feelings, and ideas.”
